Michelangelo Buonarroti

Michelangelo was a great renaissance artist. Like many other great artists of his time Michelangelo painted, sculpted, and designed buildings. One of most famous paintings were the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel of Rome. Although he painted many pieces, he was mainly a sculptor. He sculpted his statues to like just like the human that he was sculpting.
Sandro Botticelli

Sandro Botticelli was a famous renaissance artist. He was born around 1445 and became a famous artist in Florence. He sometimes painted on a wet plaster with watercolor paint. That type of painting is called a fresco. Fresco means fresh in Italian. Frescoes were painted in churches all over Italy. That type of painting was very famous.
Albrecht Durer

Albrecht Durer is one of the greatest artists of the Northern Renaissance. He was able to master both perspective and fine detail. He is considered a master painter, but he is known for his carvings. He printed many copies of his carvings and sold them throughout Germany.
Jan Van Eyck

Jan Van Eyck was a master of oil painting. The is some evidence to show that he created oil painting. He learned to mix colors to get even more beautiful and vibrant colors. In one of his best known paintings a married couple stand side by side in a formal bedroom. In this painting he gets all of the fine details that he is supposed to have to make it a beautiful painting.
Raphael Sanzio

Raphael became known as one of the best painters in Italy. He painted madonnas and painted a few frescoes. His most famous painting is the School of Athens. This painting show many Greek philosophers that are standing and around an outdoor table.

He was a great artist of the late Renaissance. By the time that he had died in 1576 he had gained the title of count, many riches, and received many hors for his work. He painted many portraits as well as mythological and religious scenes. He used very rich colors with dark shadows to have a contrast in colors. He influenced many artists after him.
Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the best renaissance scientist and also a great artist. Everything that we know about him, we found in his journal. He has many drawings in his journal. He has drawn things that we have now, but that they did not have back then. He is a very intelligent person.
